At Harmony Haven Housing, our mission is to create a safe, loving and highly nurturing home where children with learning disabilities and complex needs feel understood, valued and able to truly belong.
We provide calm routines, consistent boundaries and trusted relationships that help children feel secure, build confidence and develop at their own pace. Through personalised, trauma-informed care, communication support and meaningful opportunities, we nurture each child's strengths, celebrate their individuality and help them grow in independence, self-esteem and joy.
Every child's journey is different, and we are committed to walking alongside them with patience, compassion and belief, so they can feel safe enough to belong, supported enough to flourish, and confident enough to bloom.
Our House
A house designed to feel like home
Our House is located in a quieter residential setting in the Marston and Northwich area. The location provides access to education, healthcare, parks, countryside, leisure facilities and community opportunities while offering a calmer home environment that can be particularly valuable for children with sensory and communication needs.
The home supports both togetherness and personal space. Each child has their own bedroom and can personalise it around their interests and preferences. Shared areas support ordinary home life through meals, cooking, games, film nights, celebrations and children's meetings. A dedicated sensory room, quiet areas and secure outdoor space provide opportunities for regulation, relaxation, play and activity.
The environment and routines are adapted around individual needs. Staff consider communication, sensory preferences, mobility, health and risk when planning support. Safety arrangements are reviewed through care planning, risk assessment, environmental checks and wider safeguarding systems.
Who We Support
Individual need comes before labels
Our House is designed to care for up to two children aged 7–17. Children may have learning disabilities, autism, communication differences, sensory processing needs, developmental delay, social and emotional needs, mild to moderate physical disabilities and associated complex needs. Some children may have an Education, Health and Care Plan. The home only accepts placements where assessed needs can be met safely and effectively within the service model and staffing arrangements described in the Statement of Purpose.
Communication, Sensory Needs and Children's Voice
Every child must have a meaningful way to be heard
Children communicate in different ways. Our responsibility is to adapt communication to the child rather than expecting the child to fit one method. Depending on individual assessment and specialist advice, communication support may include spoken language, Makaton, PECS, visual timetables, social stories, photographs, symbols, objects of reference, visual choice boards, communication books and assistive technology.
Children are supported to influence daily life and their own care, including routines, meals, activities, bedroom decoration, goals and community participation. Staff seek views through conversations, observation, key-work sessions, children's meetings and accessible communication. Where a request cannot be agreed because of safety, health or legal restrictions, staff explain the reason accessibly and identify safe alternatives where possible.
Sensory-aware practice
Many children with autism and learning disabilities experience noise, light, touch, movement, smell, unpredictability and transitions differently. Our House therefore uses sensory-aware planning, including quiet spaces, sensory resources, visual structure, movement opportunities, preparation for transitions and environmental adjustments. Specialist guidance is incorporated into daily care and reviewed for impact.
